Speakeasy

Bio / EPK

Speakeasy like to hang wherever hard funk, muscle soul and rock and roll collide. Soulful vocals, funky grooves, dirty horns, and original songs all combine in a great live show. Speakeasy power their journey with a hard funk and muscle soul palette, inspired by everything from Northern soul to George Clinton to Lenny Kravitz. Winners of the Voyager International Songwriting Competition, Soul and RnB category (judged by Dami Im and Isaiah Firebrace), their single ‘Straight Ahead’ received Amex funding to record at Melbourne’s iconic Sing Sing studios, before spending a month in the AMRAP Metro charts top 10, peaking at #2.

Individually the members of Speakeasy have played every kind of gig imaginable, from festivals and tours to film and TV. Collectively, they bring everything they’ve got to the table. You can catch their sound on vinyl, online, and independent radio shows such as Vince Peach ‘Soul Time’ across Australia.
